• The foreign and defence ministers of India and the US held the 2+2 dialogue in Washington DC on September 9. The dialogue was co-chaired by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The two sides discussed a range of issues, including the Ukraine crisis, the Indo-Pacific region, and defence cooperation.
  भारत और अमेरिका के विदेश और रक्षा मंत्रियों ने 9 सितंबर को वाशिंगटन डीसी में 2+2 वार्ता की। इस वार्ता की सह-अध्यक्षता विदेश मंत्री एस जयशंकर और रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह ने की। दोनों पक्षों ने यूक्रेन संकट, भारत-प्रशांत क्षेत्र और रक्षा सहयोग सहित कई मुद्दों पर चर्चा की।

• The World Bank has lowered its forecast for India's GDP growth in FY23 to 7.2% from 8.7% in its previous forecast. The bank cited the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and rising inflation as the main reasons for the downgrade.
  विश्व बैंक ने वित्त वर्ष 2023 में भारत की जीडीपी वृद्धि का अनुमान अपने पिछले पूर्वानुमान के 8.7% से घटाकर 7.2% कर दिया है। बैंक ने रेटिंग घटाने का मुख्य कारण रूस-यूक्रेन के बीच चल रहे युद्ध और बढ़ती महंगाई को बताया है।

• Kerala reported 37 new COVID-19 cases on September 9, taking the total number of cases in the state to 6,51,222. There were no deaths due to the virus.
  केरल में 9 सितंबर को 37 नए सीओवीआईडी -19 मामले दर्ज किए गए, जिससे राज्य में कुल मामलों की संख्या 6,51,222 हो गई। वायरस से कोई मौत नहीं हुई.

• Monsoon rains continued to lash north India on September 9, causing flooding and landslides in some areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rains in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh over the next few days.

• India's first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant is set to be launched in November this year. The carrier is being built at the Cochin Shipyard. It is expected to be commissioned into the Indian Navy in 2023.
  भारत का पहला स्वदेशी विमानवाहक पोत आईएनएस विक्रांत इस साल नवंबर में लॉन्च होने वाला है। इस कैरियर का निर्माण कोचीन शिपयार्ड में किया जा रहा है। इसके 2023 में भारतीय नौसेना में शामिल होने की उम्मीद है।

• The African Union has been granted permanent membership of the G20, the world's premier economic forum. The decision was made at the G20 summit in Indonesia. The AU's membership is seen as a major boost for the continent's economic and political clout.
  अफ़्रीकी संघ को दुनिया के प्रमुख आर्थिक मंच G20 की स्थायी सदस्यता प्रदान की गई है। यह निर्णय इंडोनेशिया में जी20 शिखर सम्मेलन में किया गया। एयू की सदस्यता को महाद्वीप के आर्थिक और राजनीतिक दबदबे के लिए एक प्रमुख बढ़ावा के रूप में देखा जाता है।

• The US and China held high-level talks on trade and climate change on September 9. The talks were held in Washington DC and were led by US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and Chinese Vice Premier Liu He. The two sides discussed ways to reduce tensions in their trade relationship and to cooperate on climate change.
  अमेरिका और चीन ने 9 सितंबर को व्यापार और जलवायु परिवर्तन पर उच्च स्तरीय वार्ता की। वार्ता वाशिंगटन डीसी में आयोजित की गई और इसका नेतृत्व अमेरिकी वाणिज्य सचिव जीना रायमोंडो और चीनी उप प्रधान मंत्री लियू हे ने किया। दोनों पक्षों ने अपने व्यापार संबंधों में तनाव कम करने और जलवायु परिवर्तन पर सहयोग करने के तरीकों पर चर्चा की।

• The UN Security Council has renewed the mandate for cross-border aid to Syria for six months. The vote was 12-0, with Russia abstaining. The mandate allows for the delivery of humanitarian aid to opposition-held areas of Syria through the Bab al-Hawa crossing on the Turkish-Syrian border.

• North Korea fired a suspected ballistic missile into the sea off its east coast on September 9. The launch was the latest in a series of missile tests by North Korea in recent months. The US condemned the launch and called on North Korea to "cease its destabilizing actions."

• Sri Lanka's President Gotabaya Rajapaksa declared a state of emergency on September 9. The declaration came amid growing protests over the country's economic crisis. The state of emergency gives the government sweeping powers to arrest and detain people.
